Explore the Cape in Style

Few cities offer as much natural beauty and scenic views as Cape Town. The City is anchored on the Table Mountain range and surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean making breathtaking views a rule rather than an exception. Driving in the ‘Mother City’ one often finds oneself elevated above the city lights or following the natural curves of the coastline. What could be better than to experience these scenic drives in a classic car?

Scenic Routes in Cape Town

The nicest routes in Cape Town are certainly the marine drives along the Cape Peninsula. Heading south from the city and hugging the Atlantic coastline you will pass Sea Point and the promenade of Camps Bay. Continue with the Twelve Apostles as a backdrop and you will pass the beautiful beach of Llandudno before you enter Hout Bay, a little fishing village with great restaurants. From here a small entrance fee will get you on the famous road that is Chapman’s Peak Drive. The road winds its way along the mountain with a steep drop into the icy Atlantic right next to the road. South of ‘Chappies’ are Noorhoek, Kommetjie and Scarborough – laid back seaside suburbs that are far removed from the stress of the city.
The very tip of the peninsula is the Cape Point Nature Reserve. Pass the Reserve and your scenic journey will continue along False Bay and take you through the charming little towns of Simon’s Town, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay and Muizenberg. These towns are full of quaint little cafés and restaurant, with exceptional shopping for books, antiques and clothes with the ocean never too far away.
Once you have passed Muizenberg, you are back on dry land. But why not take a drive into some of South Africa’s oldest wine farms in Constantia? Nestled on the slopes of Table Mountain these wine farms offer wines of superior quality in a tranquil environment. Just remember drunken driving is an offense in South Africa, too. Another great option is one of the internationally acclaimed restaurants in the Constantia area to round off a perfect day.
