Breede River Rafting

What could be more relaxing than a weekend of paddling on a river in the most beautiful mountain scenery? A rafting tour on the Breede River in the Western Cape allows you to do just that. The Breede River has a mild climate, a tranquil mountain backdrop, stunning birdlife and clear skies. Spend the evenings enjoying sundowners by the braai and marvelling at the stars.

A Great Family Weekend

Rafting tours on the Breede River only require moderate levels of fitness, making it a great weekend escape with friends and family. The tours are fully catered so all you have to do is enjoy the view and the cool water. The tours usually start on a Friday evening when all the paddlers meet at the camp and share a delicious meal. After a hearty breakfast you start paddling on Saturday morning, following the river towards the Indian Ocean. You will then camp on one of the sandbanks of the Breede. Go for a swim, explore the surroundings or just kick back with a sundowner while your guides prepare dinner. The night is spent under a blanket of stars. On Sunday there is more paddling to be done as you look out for kingfishers and fish eagles.

The Breede flows for 337km through the Western Cape and empties into the Indian Ocean close at Witsand. The Breede passes the towns of Worcester, Robertson, Montagu and Swellendam.
